Lil' Bad Wolf Available Tomorrow!

Lil' Bad Wolf and the Huntsman (eBook) - Retold Fairy Tales #1

Blurb
Lil' Bad Wolf, an outcast, lives a lonely existence. The Huntsman, solitary by choice, crossed the line between man and beast long ago.

In the dark wood, they encounter one another, a cross-dressing wolf hungering for acceptance and a Huntsman with secrets of his own...

Excerpt

Lil' Bad Wolf's stomach growled, protesting his last three days of forced starvation. He placed one hand on his belly in an attempt to quell the hunger pangs. Desperate to get something to eat, he finally resorted to sneaking into the village that lay on the outskirts of the woods. His nose, though not nearly as capable as the snouts of his four-legged brethren, easily picked up the scent of freshly smoked sausages curing in the butcher's shop. He followed the delicious aroma until he reached the village's outermost building. Still hidden by a thick growth of young fir trees, he hesitated, indecision warring with his gnawing stomach. After all, his mother had warned him about the dangers of the village and of humans when he was just a pup: Always keep your nose up and your ears perked like a good Lil' Bad Wolf...and never venture out of the woods.

He remembered the last time he had left the woods and made his way into the village. The villagers had taken one look at him and panic had ensued. The situation had deteriorated into utter chaos. The villagers suffered a near rabid fear of wolves, and with his furry brown ears and tail, he was just wolfish enough to be viewed as a threat. Possessed by that fear, they had chased him off with their torches and pitchforks.

He'd barely gotten away with his skin still intact.

He did not want a repeat of that particular incident, so he was extra careful to stay out of sight this time. He slunk into town and climbed onto the thatched roof of the butcher's house. His bare feet slipped several times on the still dew-covered straw as he negotiated the drastic angle of the roof's long overhang. A feat that would have been easier with shoes, but he had not possessed a pair since he was a pup. He'd once had a pair of stout wooden shoes, carved for him by the loving hands of his father the winter before a villager's rifle took him away. Lil' Bad Wolf had been in his thirteenth winter at the time.

He'd worn those shoes long past the time it was necessary to replace them with a better-fitted pair and had only parted with them when he'd been forced to leave them in the river after being chased out of the village. He had returned to the river later that night to look for them. When he could not find them, he realized with sadness that they had been washed downstream. Six seasons of cold had passed since he'd had coverings for his feet.

Winter was fast approaching. It was the time Lil' Bad Wolf dreaded the most. He did not possess the thick, fur coats of his four-legged counterparts. Even the fabled shifters had it better than he. At least they could transform to wear their fur on the outside rather than in.

The cold went right through his worn clothing. How he would love to have a warm coat and a pair of shoes to keep his toes from feeling the chilly nip of winter.

His stomach growled again, reminding him of more pressing matters.

Settling himself onto the roof, he cautiously peered over the edge to get a better view of the sausages that had been hung in the smokehouse to cure.

If he could just sneak past without anyone taking notice of him, he could pilfer a couple of the links. There were so many hanging there in the smokehouse. Surely the butcher would not miss one or two?

He prepared to climb down from the rooftop, but leaned over too far. His bare feet lost their footing on the steep pitch. His arms flailed in a desperate attempt to regain his balance, but he ended up tumbling over the roof's long overhang, headfirst into a water trough. He came up spewing and sputtering and gasping for air.

All of his plans to sneak into the town unnoticed evaporated when a child pointed directly at him as he clambered awkwardly out of the narrow, wooden container. The child pulled on his mother's skirts in an effort to drag her attention away from her conversation with another woman. The child's mother turned to chastise the boy for interrupting her, but then her eyes fell on Lil' Bad Wolf, and her face twisted into an ugly mixture of disgust, hatred, and fear.

Lil' Bad Wolf lowered his ears in preparation for the ear-piercing scream that was sure to come. Just as he expected, the woman let out a deafening sound that rent his ears.

"Wolf! Oh, help! There's a wolf!" the woman screeched as she hugged her child to her ample bosom. The boy waved his arms in protest as he found his face pressed into the hollow between her voluptuous breasts.

"On, please, hurry before he harms someone!" The woman cried out in a voice that grated at Lil' Bad Wolf's already much abused ears.

He frantically scrambled to run away, but his damp breeches--already two sizes too large for him--clung to his legs, impeding his rush to escape. He tripped, but managed to right himself at the last moment. Behind him, the men of the village chased after him with gardening hoes, sticks, and stones. One man pitched a palm-sized rock, but Lil' Bad Wolf managed to dodge it and it soared past him, mere inches from his head. His ear involuntarily twitched as he realized how close the rock had come to potentially cracking his skull open.

He was not as fortunate when a smaller rock caught him on his outer thigh. He bit back a yelp of pain and pushed forward until he was in the relative safety of the woods. He continued running, however, slowing only when he was certain none of the villagers were bold enough to follow him into the Black Forest.

Cosmic Encounters Inspiration Post - Crysta K. Coburn

Cosmic Encounters is an anthology of science fiction stories all with an erotic slant. There are stories from the near future to others taking place on a far flung world. As is custom with most of my anthologies there is a wide number of pairings and heat levels.

Third to speak about their inspiration behind their story is Crysta K Coburn. She is the writer behind the story Heaven Ain't Close.

Here is the blurb:

In a world nearly tapped out by war, one soldier seeks the lost love of her life in the pleasure quarters of Mars' capitol for one more night together.

Now without further ado please help me welcome Crysta to the blog!

Crysta's Inspiration

A lot of things inspired my story “Heaven Ain’t Close,” but there was one distinct light bulb moment. I had read a call for submissions online in the weeks before with the theme “lesbian science fiction erotica.” This was over ten years ago in middle America when writing about LGBTQ people was both shocking and tantalizing. I was still in college and a part of our LGBTQ and allies organization, and we were very much oppressed by other groups on campus. I wanted to write that story. But all my brainstorming came up with nothing for days until, one night, I was listening to music and “Somebody Told Me” by the Killers came on. And there it was, my opening scene, playing vividly before my mind’s eye.

The broken white lines that separated the lanes blurred together into one as the road fell away beneath my air bike… The story actually has very little to do with the lyrics of the song, though elements did inspire plot points coming together. The original contest that inspired this story ended up tanking. I took the opportunity to rework the story, returning to it over the years, and resubmit it. I am so happy this story has finally found its home with Cosmic Encounters.

Cosmic Encounters Inspiration Post - Nicolette deSada

Cosmic Encounters is an anthology of science fiction stories all with an erotic slant. There are stories from the near future to others taking place on a far flung world. As is custom with most of my anthologies there is a wide number of pairings and heat levels.

Second to speak about their inspiration behind their story is Nicolette deSada. She is the writer behind the story Catching the Virus.

Here is the blurb:

In a repressed dystopia run by a tyrannical government, Jules – a lonely computer geek – enters a virtual-reality cyberworld to help a friend find and destroy some illegal photo files of an illicit nature. However, he gets more than he bargained for when he encounters Virus, a hacker who manipulates the cyberworld to suit his own agenda. Though Jules is only in the cyberworld to retrieve his friend’s photo files, he finds the mysterious hacker an irresistible temptation. Blending noir with cyberpunk, CATCHING THE VIRUS is the first in a series of erotic adventures that pits an innocent against a jaded, but sexy fugitive.

Now without further ado I will pass you all over to Nicolette to explain the inspiration for the story:

What inspired me to write CATCHING THE VIRUS…

My Dad bought me my first computer when I was 13 years old. It was an old Macintosh that was already nearing the end of its days. Though it was limited in function, I positively loved the thing. I wrote my first short story on it (which was lost to the world when the old Mac finally decided to crash and burn). After that, I got my first desktop PC, which was decidedly more capable in terms of power. I also was gifted with an internet connection, which started my foray into the World Wide Web. By the time I was 16, I was something of a computer nerd and spent a good portion of my free time at the keyboard.

Now, I’m no hacker, but I became fascinated by the world of hackers and the muse struck me with an idea for a story about a “networld" called Invoke. Built and maintained by a network of elite, blackhat hackers who wanted nothing more than to be a thorn in the side of an elitist government, Invoke began life as the barebones idea for a futuristic, sci-fi adventure story. Sadly, I got no further with the characters or plot beyond that and the idea was sentenced to sit in my digital drawer of abandoned story plots. Years passed and then I saw the Call for Submission to Cosmic Encounters and, suddenly, everything started to come together. The virtual reality networld of Invoke and the characters who inhabit its digital landscapes suddenly became very realistic to me.

I would like to think CATCHING THE VIRUS is the first in a long line of interrelated short stories that provides a unique take on the erotic potential of virtual reality. Eric Schmidt defined the internet as “the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had.” What better way to harness that potential than a networld run by underground hackers as a means of sticking it to a repressive government bent on carefully monitoring everything civilians do?

I enjoyed writing about the world of Invoke and its characters and I plan to return to Invoke for many more stories. I have much in store for Virus and Jules and everyone else who will manage to get caught in the networld’s web (pun intended!).

So, what’s in the future for Invoke and its characters? Well, I’m planning to further explore the networld, the repressive government, the characters, the virtual and the real sex, everything! I have plans for a spin-off that will be set in the future, years after the events that feature Jules and Virus. Since I have plans to illustrate my work in the future, the spin-off may even be illustrated! I haven’t decided yet, but I do know that Jules and Virus’ story is a prelude to what will follow.

I am looking forward to seeing more of these two characters!

Cosmic Encounters Inspiration Post - Vanessa de Sade

Cosmic Encounters is an anthology of science fiction stories all with an erotic slant. There are stories from the near future to others taking place on a far flung world. As is custom with most of my anthologies there is a wide number of pairings and heat levels.

As happens with my anthologies I asked the contributors for a short piece explaining the inspiration behind their story so keep an eye out for them!

For the first one I'm pleased to welcome Vanessa de Sade who is the genius behind the story: The Story of Snow White.

Here is the blurb:

The year is 2076 and the long war is finally concluded by a germ attack which affects semen and makes sexual contact with the male species fatal. Meanwhile, Snow White, hidden in the crumbling apartment of the Dwarf, remembers her fall from grace and her tempestuous affair with the Queen…

So without further ado I welcome Vanessa to the blog to speak about the inspiration behind her story:

The Story of Snow White
This story began, as many of my pieces often do, with a single line that popped into my head over the breakfast toast one grey and rainy morning:

"The Dwarf was looking dispiritedly through the wanted ads in The Stage when Snow White came in, shaking the cold and wet off her coat."

But, despite having an initial premise and some characters I still didn't have a story. Where was this action taking place, for example? Not in some Germanic fairy tale woodland, that was for sure, and there was already a good dose of gritty urban realism in that one line alone, so I knew that Snow White and the Dwarf were trying to make a go of things in a city somewhere, and that times were tough. The Dwarf was obviously having to demean himself by performing in dodgy stage shows, but what about Snow White, how was she contributing?

The answer came, strangely and rather obliquely, from an old Tom Waits song. In the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king… What if this was a world where blood was infected and pure blood was at a premium? That was good, but why were Snow White and the Dwarf hiding out if they had a saleable asset like that? The Wicked Queen, of course, the psychotic despot who wanted to be the fairest in the land and wanted Snow White dead! And, instantly, a picture of a depraved and sexually rapacious version of the original Disney villainess sprang into my mind.

From then on it was plain-sailing. The crumbling towers of Armageddonist Britain quickly formed themselves and it wasn't long before I was shaping the Queen's black velvet chamber with its all-seeing mirror and sexually inviting darkness. But I needed a Prince, and I didn't want just any conventional hero figure, so, without much prompting, my warped brain came up with the wonderfully tragic Doctor who's a melding of the original Woodsman and Prince Charming. How? You'll have to read the story!
* * *
I'm particularly fond of this story and the bleak world that the characters inhabit, which, while far away from the Grimm original on the surface, is, in fact, the same dark tale set in the concrete forests of a dystopian society and just as darkly sexy as the nineteenth century folk tale would have been before it was cleaned-up for publication. Plus, of course, I got to create a colour palette that pays homage to my love of old 1930s films, so, all in all, this one has been a real winner for me!

About Vanessa
Vanessa de Sade is a forty-something full-figure gal who likes to write hot stories about real women exploring the darker regions of their own sexuality.
